About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Advocacy Specialist to work full-time or part-time in our country office in Kabul. The Advocacy Specialist will be a member of CW4WAghan’s Advocacy Committee, and:
Make contributions to activities underway by civil society organizations and networks; liaise with diplomatic missions, and the State Ministry of Peace, in support of protecting the rights of Afghan women and girls, particularly educational rights.
Communicate context, decisions, issues, and progress about the peace negotiations and other peace processes to CW4WAfghan Advocacy Committee, to inform the organization’s efforts to protect the rights of Afghan women and girls.

The responsibilities and accountabilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Establish relationships with donors and organizations representing human rights, women’s rights, peace defender organizations, and others in the peace and security space
- Be an active member of Afghanistan-based women and human rights networks such as “Our Voice, Our Future” and “Together Stronger”, and make meaningful contributions to discussions and activities
- Provide input to documents, letters, policy statements, etc.
- Conduct advocacy fact-finding exercises, as requested by the Advocacy Committee and other staff
- Prepare biweekly updates on the peace and security situation to the Advocacy Team
- Support designing, and be responsible for delivering advocacy activities as part of GETT and other projects/initiatives
- Attend meetings, events, and conferences in the peace and security space
- Prepare written reports documenting work and progress
This dynamic role requires the following knowledge, abilities and skills at the minimum:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Human Rights, and/or Peace and Security
An advocate for women and girls
Five years’ experience supporting advocacy efforts protecting women and girls, including launching advocacy activities and campaigns
Professional, works well under pressure with minimal direction
Fluency in professional level English and Dari (speaking, listening, reading, writing)
Demonstrated knowledge of and passion for the universalism of human rights and gender equity and equality
Experience in strategic planning
Demonstrated relationship-building and collaboration skills
Effective presentation/public speaking and constituent engagement skills
Excellent advocacy skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
