At present, it is seeking exceptional individual to fill the position of Analyst Investment and Technical Assistance, Accelerate Prosperity Afghanistan in its Badakhshan office.

Job Description:

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Analyst will be responsible for overall analysis of AP’s investment of activities and operations within his/her portfolio, startup business acceleration (pre- and post-investment analysis and TA) of Accelerate Prosperity Afghanistan.

The position responsible for leveraging the creative power and commercial instincts of the private sector in identifying, reviewing, and supporting local entrepreneurs, to address the needs and challenges of budding entrepreneurs, startups and existing SGBs. She / he reports to the AP Regional Manager Investment and Acceleration.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·Identification of Start-ups and SBGs
Screen out applications and identify potential start-ups/SBGs for investment. Conduct proper interview with SBGs and select the most potential start-ups/SBGs for investment based on set criteria.

·Due Diligence and Risk Assessment
Conduct necessary due diligence, financial modelling, risk analysis and development of information memorandum in the structuring of select-equity investments, guarantees, and/or TA, or other forms of assistance to be extended by Accelerate Prosperity and/or pool of its investors.

·Investment Analysis
Investment Analysis: Collection accurate business information, perform research and analyses investment viability and ensure the repayment projections are accurately estimated. Approvals: Assist Investments & TA Specialist in getting internal approvals for investment proposals from AP Investment Committee. Documentation: With the support of internal/external legal counsel, ensure for all deals that appropriate legal documentation is successfully concluded in line with approvals and that financial close (i.e., first disbursement) is achieved in a timely manner.

·Post Investment Monitoring and TA
Monitoring: Undertake the regular monitoring of investees, ensuring compliance with financing agreement, required institutional and regulatory guidelines, implementation of mutually agreed steps in Due Diligence report, policies and procedures of Accelerate Prosperity as well as agreed covenants and reporting requirements up to financing effectiveness. Training and Mentorship: Extend post investment training and advisory to the investees as per the recommendations made in the Due Diligence reports on the regular basis to ensure the investment is effective.
·Carries out the responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects AKDN and AP(Afg)’s commitment to protecting children in accordance with the Child Safeguarding Policy.

OCCASIONAL SIGNIFICANT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Any other task: as may be required and/or given by the Investment and TA Specialist and or Regional Manager Investment and Acceleration AP Afghanistan.

DECISION-MAKING & AUTHORITY

  • Based on special assignments, the Regional Manager Investment and Acceleration may delegate part of his decision-making authority to the Analyst Investment and Technical Assistance.

Job Requirements:

JOB SPECIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field with 5 years of experience, and/or an MBA or related master’s degree is (preferred) with 2 years of experience.
  • Experience of analysis of investment and finance experience in Afghanistan in
  • Small and Medium Enterprises [SME] financing, private equity, venture capital and/or financial services in Afghanistan.
  • Dealing with investment analysis in early-stage enterprises.
  • Developing new analysis strategies, processes and capacities for start-up phase or early-stage enterprises or initiatives.
  • Proficiency in English and Dari or Pashto is required.

REQUIRED CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Hands-on experience in analysis of SME financing, private equity, venture capital and/or financial services in Afghanistan.
  • Developing new analysis strategies, processes and capacities for start-up phase or early-stage enterprises or initiatives.
