Job Description:

Finance Director main duties and responsibilities:

The Finance Director shall be responsible for overall KEN and Nokhbagan University financial activities.
The Finance Director is responsible to prepare daily, monthly and annual financial and operation plans.
To make sure that monthly accounting reports are collected, checked, complied, analyzed according to KEN financial procedure on timely manner.
To make sure or register monthly accounting data in the software.
To make sure all the invoices with supporting documents are filed and presented in an understandable manner on daily and Monthly bases.
To make sure staff financial list is prepared on monthly basis and in accordance to the Policies of KEN and the monthly salaries are delivered properly
Manage day to day operations of the Finance with schools and universities
Oversee all audit and internal control operations (purchasing and contracts)
Conduct analysis to make forecasts and report to upper executives
Work closely with CEB and other management to prevent financial risk
Ensures that the organization’s assets are protected
The finance director shall perform the following procedures daily for reconciliation of cash account and investment accounts to KEN University’s books.

Obtain the monthly bank statement for each account.
Identify all cheques that have been written to date. All cheques will be disbursed in numerical order. Also, identify outstanding cheques from the previous day’s reconciliation.
using the bank statement as a guide, identify the cheques that have “cleared” the bank and eliminate them from the master list of cheques written to date. After this has been done those cheques that have not cleared are considered to be the “outstanding cheques”. The total of these outstanding cheques will be calculated.
Total all deposits made by and recorded in the general ledger during the current period. Compare the deposits made to those reported on the bank statement. Most often if there is a discrepancy; it is due to deposits that have not yet been recognized by the bank, which are Called “deposits in transit”. Identify the total “deposits in transit” for each account.
Review all journal entries that have either increased or decreased cash and determine whether the transaction is, or should be, reflected on the bank statement. If not, the journal entry or entries will be reconciling items.
Review the bank statement to determine if any deposits and/or charges have been made to the bank account (e.g.: interest, service charge, etc.) that require journal entries in the general ledger.

The mentioned procedure should be followed on monthly basis as well.

Travel to KEN branches when need 

TRAINING:
To conduct Financial and Accounting training to all Finance staffs in KEN, covering accounting for individual projects in line with the agreement set out in the funding agreements, as per the guidelines of external agencies.

To lead and manage the finance team in the country and ensuring on time accurate relevant reporting.

Job Requirements:

Qualification: Master degree in Finance with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior position with national or international organization. (Abroad Degree Holder will be preferred)
Experience: Experience in the education sector is preferable.
Nationality: National / International 
Communication skills: Excellent communication skills in Dari, Pashto and English
Computer skills: Word, Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint and Internet
Competencies and personal characteristics: Leadership qualities, Problem solving skills, Analytical skills and Inter-personal skills.
