Job Description:

The primary focus of this position is the support and maintenance of the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) in addition to other systems supported by the HRIS team in Afghanistan. This role is responsible for processing transactions in Workday for employee data entries, changes initiated through the HR team, Recruiters, or Employee Self-Service.  This role is also responsible for overseeing and managing the local staff electronic timesheets in Costpoint.

S/he serves as a technical point-of-contact for assigned functional areas and assists subject matter experts with ensuring data integrity, testing of system changes, analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities. The HRIS Analyst also supports HRIS upgrades, patches, testing and other technical projects as assigned.

Major Activities / Responsibilities:

Data Integrity and System Maintenance:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operation of the HR systems (Workday and Costpoint; including business process configuration/improvement, data entry, report creation and reporting, data analysis, user help, and communications.
  • Verify and/or validate employee information related to compensation, terminations, status and position changes, pending new hires and rehired employees, employee transfers, employee personal information and process applicable changes in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Track and verify timesheet submission in Costpoint, ensuring that staff are submitting correctly and entering time daily, also verify that sick and vacation time matches the reported values in the timesheet.
  • Manage and oversee the electronic attendance system (this include generating the attendance reports as and when required, reconciling the monthly attendance report with the timesheets etc…)
  • Manage pending hire data from onboarding system and/or work with HR Manager/Officers and Talent Acquisition professionals to obtain the required candidate information to create employee and contingent worker records.
  • Regularly follow up with staff on mandatory online trainings and make sure that all new employees are receiving and completing their mandatory online trainings within 30 days.


  • Run, maintain, and support a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Assist in development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs. Help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.
  • Audit Afghanistan data entry on a regular basis to review data for accuracy and compliance and liaise with US home office.

Train staff on Workday and Costpoint:

  • Train all staff so that they can efficiently use Workday for their mandatory online trainings, performance objectives, performance reviews and personal data.
  • Train all staff on how to use the electronic timesheet and continuously monitor for compliance and correct coding.
  • Develop training materials as needed to facilitate the task of training staff.
  • Provide new staff orientation, and refresh staff, as necessary. 

Resolve Problems:

  • Liaise with HQ HR and IT support team to resolve and problems in the system and identify areas for improvement.

Job Requirements:


  • Required:   Bachelor’s degree in computer science, human resources, business, or related field


  • Required:  Minimum of four (4) years demonstrated experience working with human resources information systems (HRIS)
  • Preferred:  six (6) years of demonstrated HRIS experience and process knowledge highly preferred as well as varied and successful experience using HRIS system and/or Costpoint


  • Proven ability to manage project deliverables on schedule. Strong requirements gathering, project planning, project documentation, change control, issue/risk management, and task/project management skills. Ability to both manage a project and function as a hands-on team member simultaneously. Ability to execute strategic and tactical priorities across assigned projects.
  • Strong understanding of HRIS database design, structure, HR functions, processes, and data. Experience and passion for automation and database tools. 
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.  Knowledgeable in reporting technologies.
  • Experience with a variety of HR software and platforms preferred; NuView experience may be helpful
  • Working knowledge of benefits systems set up, interfaces, multi-platform integration. Passion for creating internal documentation, work and process flows, and educating others on the same;
  •  Ability to liaise with IS, User Experience Team,  HR, and employees. Excellent interpersonal skills; able to manage relationships through transition and imperfection
  • Workday  experience not required, but a plus.
  • Costpoint experience not required, but a plus
  • Proficient in creating spreadsheets and reports using both HR system report writers and Microsoft Excel.
