Job Description:

Job Summary:

HR Officer – Employee/Staff Relations is responsible for managing a range of HR policies that affect people at work. HR Officer – Employee/Staff Relations is responsible for creating a fair, respectful, diverse and high-performance culture enabling people to contribute their best. The Manager develops, delivers and maintains a business focused employee relations strategy that meets the needs of all Bank Staff. Working closely with internal mechanisms, with the wider Human Resources community and with clients to deliver a fair, consistent ER service, both minimizing legal and reputational risks to the Bank.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Position holder will be responsible for:
  • Thoroughly investigating, pursuing and recording all grievances, reprimands and disciplinary actions preparing reports and forwarding to relevant personnel.
  • Visiting all local and provincial branches to fill HR visit checklists for categorization of the branch.
  • Ensuring Bank HR policies and processes are current, conform and, where appropriate, are best practice.
  • Leading the employee relations aspects of proposed changes to organization structure and employment levels and contracts which are needed to support the delivery of the Bank’s business objectives.
  • Leading, motivating and developing the teams of HR department, participating in resourcing, recruitment, performance and development activities.
  • Developing response specifications, reviews output and finalizing submission of the employee relations queries raised by the system Human Resources Officers to provide them with a unified (organization-wide) response to their queries. Participate and support Resourcing Section in recruitment/selection and separation process.
  • Performing employee background checks and verifying information of new recruits.
  • Assisting in conducting exit interview for departing employees to ensure that the valid reasons are captured through the process.
  • Receiving and responding to daily emails, forwarding information synthesized from the mail to relevant personnel and providing feedback to senders.
  • Following up on each request made by employees, departments and branches to relevant HR function within HR department.
  • Contributing to the strategic development of the Human Resource function by developing a progressive, business focused employee relations strategy that meets the current and future needs of the Bank.
  • Keeping employees updated on organizational development and other important changes by managing smooth communication channels written and verbal.
  • Ensuring proper documentation of files related to employee relations like Memos, Directives etc. to retrieve them as needed.
  • Identifying and implementing positive employee relations programs, in consultation with the relevant stakeholder groups, that will lead to a more efficient and motivated workforce.
  • Collecting and analyzing employee data through authorized channels and preparing reports to identify and resolve problems. Providing advice and guidance to staff, peers and managers on matters related to the application of the Staff rules and regulations, Bank policies and procedures, interpersonal relationship, performance and career problems.
  • Contributing to the continued improvement of the health of the organization by monitoring performance indicators, such as sickness absence, levels of grievances and disciplinaries and work/life balance and developing initiatives and solutions to enable positive trends.
  • Visiting branches to ensuring that the operational team structure is maintained, and the team is appropriately recruited and selected.
  • Responsibilities and duties of the position holder can be modified according to the needs and requirements of the organization and work.

Job Requirements:

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required e.g. Human Resources, Business Administration.
  • Full command on both official languages of the country and English a must
  • Knowledge of MS Office and Computer
  • Minimum of four years of HR experience of which one year must be of Employee Relations Track record of leading and developing teams and managing projects and programs
  • Good coaching, mentoring and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill
  • Bachelor degree in related field and/or in general but with combination of relevant experiences
  • 3 to 4 years of experiences in the large scale entities and may be the government and/or private sector is a plus
  • Maintain high confidence and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication and follow up skills
  • SMART worker and a self-starter to work under pressure and for long hours
  • Computer literacy and good command over the national languages and English is must
  • Good behavior and attitude with peers and colleagues and able to answer to an issue.
  • Excellent MS Office skills, attention to detail.
  • Pro-active and constructive attitude, initiative, self-confidence, excellent analytical and reporting skills. Quick learner.
