Action Against Hunger (AAH) is a Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) that was create in France in 1979. Action Against Hunger has been active in Afghanistan in the medical, nutrition, food security, and water and sanitation fields since 1995.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

 

Mission 1: Facilitate and carry out base out logistics activities

Perform base logistic activities in collaboration with Flying Field Coordinator and Logistic officer.  

Provide support on Supply when logistic officer is delegating tasks
Being pro-active regarding training/coaching to be requested to logistic officer, to be able to carry out logistics activities
Identify project needs and support PM on the preparation of procurement requests.
Facilitate all supplies procurement for all projects in the base in accordance to logistic officer and logistic supply department
Close follow up with logistic officer and PMs for the procurement of supplies for project.
Provide and follow up the necessary document for supply.
Send Scan copies of all document to logistic officer for further process.
Support logistic officer in the establishing the Treasury Forecast for projects.
Ensure controlling deliveries to projects location in the province.
Collecting data on the market and local suppliers in the province and share with logistic officer.
Regularly perform market assessments and ensure that the database is up to date ;
Control and monitor closely the market prices for core items
Quarterly update the potential supplier list

 

 

 

Mission 2: Management of the fleet

Anticipate the need of vehicles on the base taking into account AAH internal rules regarding security and safety.
Plan the movements of vehicles according to the needs of activities and in coordination with programs on a weekly basis
Attribute the appropriate vehicles according to the planning established for the programs and support activities.
Assist the  logistic officer for renting of vehicles for project (framework contract follow up, etc..)
Follow up the use of generator (Maintenance, consumption,..)
Ensure that minor technical problems of generator are solved by himself;
Ensure that fuel consumption is well followed in the record book in the morning and at the end of the day as well as any information concerning the maintenance of the generator and vehicle.
Inform  logistic officer when repairs have to be carried out and adapt the planning accordingly
Organize the weekly vehicle planning and share with the different department
Anticipate the maintenance to be done on the fleet and generators
Monitor the cost expenditure regarding maintenance
Make sure the Log Book is properly filled up by drivers (for cars), by watchmen (for generator)

 

Mission 3: Team Management

Supervise activities of AAH drivers and rental drivers
Ensure that AAH documents and regulation are applied by drivers
Organize weekly meeting with drivers
Follow up the attendance
Identify training needs if necessary and report it to logistic officer and FFC.
Provide technical support to the team as required
Appraise the work of the team (AAH drivers)
Taking part in the recruitment of his/her teams
Organizing and leading team meetings
Providing for evaluation interviews for team members
Providing technical support to the teams
Identifying the training needs of team members if necessary
Managing difficulties in the team

 

Mission 4: Reporting, Documentation and Archiving of logistic documents

Producing the relevant monthly report according to FFC and logistic officer request.
Make sure those reports are ready on time to handover to logistic officer and FFC for the Log Monthly Report at the beginning of each month.
Ensure deadlines are expected in all logistical tasks.
Make regular phone meeting with logistic officer and share update of the base logistics.
Scanning the finalized Purchase Dossier and uploading in LINK for closing the dossier
Scanning all the documents related to the Supply Chain (SPO, Contracts, Purchase List, INVOICE, RN, SRO, and DN) and uploading in LINK.
Perform any other duties assigned by line managers

Job Requirements:

Background/qualifications

Educational / Professional Background & experience:

14th grade graduate from Business Administration from recognized institutes.  
Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in logistics Operations in Afghanistan.

Excellent knowledge and experience of modern logistics frame work
Excellent in networking with stakeholders and suppliers.  
Excellent knowledge in reporting skills, updating logistic related tools
Ability to work well within a multi-cultural staff in multiple and remote locations
Humility in the face of challenging contexts.
Demonstrated willingness to learn and constantly develop professional skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the capacity to remain calm under pressure and not lose sight of strategic priorities.
Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work in a wide variety of colleagues of various backgrounds.
Ability and willingness to travel to field offices of project locations at short notice and in sometimes-difficult circumstances.
Committed to Humanitarian principles
Excellent in written and spoken Dari, Pashtu and English.
Excellent Computer skills: Word, Excel, Power Point, outlook/typing and presentation skills
