Job Description:

PARSA’s title Mathematics Teacher is a full-time position that is responsible to deliver lessons that develop mentor’ theoretical and applied mathematical skills. She will also be responsible for assigning homework, grading assignments and quizzes, and documenting mentors’ progress.

To be successful as a Mathematics Teacher, she should possess a thorough understanding of effective teaching practices and to create a stimulating learning environment that is sensitive to mentors’ psychosocial needs. 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each job duty satisfactorily. Essential job duties include the following:

Planning and presenting lessons to facilitate mentors’ understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
Preparing and distributing learning material such as notes, assignments, and quizzes.
Sourcing the resources and supplies needed for lessons.
Ensuring that the classroom remains safe and conducive to learning
Grading assignments and quizzes in a timely manner and invigilating quizzes and final examinations
Documenting and reporting on mentors’ progress to project manager
Developing, maintaining and stimulating mentors’ interest and enjoyment in Mathematics
Enabling all mentors to have equal access to Mathematics and to experience success in their work
Developing mentors’ familiarity, competence and confidence with appropriate Mathematical concepts
Providing challenge for every mentor and to encourage all mentors to achieve their potential in Mathematics
Developing mentors’ understanding and applications of Mathematics in its wider context
Willingness to invest extra time to ensure mentors achieve the best standard
Willingness to help out with departmental responsibilities
Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:


Up-to-date subject knowledge
Understanding of what constitutes effective teaching for learning
The capacity to form positive learning – centered relationships with young people from a diverse range of backgrounds

Excellent classroom practitioner (or potential to be)


Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in Mathematics, or equivalent
At least 3 years of proven experience as a Mathematics Teacher


Excellent communication skills, orally and written
Flexible approach and readiness to respond to individual mentor needs
Commitment to improving teaching and learning, and continued professional development
Ability to work well as part of a team, and to build trust and openness
Discretion, courtesy, honesty and integrity
Reliable, punctual, diligent and well-organized
