The Organization of Technical Cooperation for Community Development OTCD, a non-profit, non-governmental organization was established in March 2007 in response to the increasing drug use and other associated problems in Afghanistan. The mission of OTCD is: To contribute to the social development of the Afghan nation by reducing the problematic use and harms of legal and illegal drugs.
OTCD provides a comprehensive and integrated range of drug treatment, rehabilitation/aftercare, and drug harm reduction services for drug users in different community settings in Kabul, Badakhshan and Nangarhar provinces of Afghanistan.
In the field of HIV/AIDS prevention/harm reduction: the organization has built up a wealth of experience and capability. The expertise includes outreach to IDUs and their partners, Needle & Syringe Exchange Program (NSEP), condom promotion program, Behavior Change Communications and skills, Primary Health Cares services, referral services to VCT, etc, counseling, treatment and follow-up as well as data collection and analysis.
All OTCD programmes are based on human rights protection of marginalized women, children, and men drug users. OTCD enables these vulnerable persons to know about the underlying issues of their drug misuse, explore risk and protection factors, examine attitudes and behaviour patterns, receive training in life and social skills and re-integrate into the community and society.
The organization enjoys close working relations and cooperation with the Ministry of Health (MOPH), Ministry of Counter Narcotics (MOCN), German Technical Cooperation (GiZ), UNODC, IRC, KOR, MDM, and Nejat.
Duties and responsibilities:
To actively participate in regular management and Clinical Supervision of ART Centre.
To keep full and contemporaneous clinical records and statistics. To assess, manage and treat individual clients with minor illness according to agreed protocols.
To participate in Harm reduction training for clients, specifically concerning Safe Injecting and Overdose Prevention and management.
Prepare monthly activities report to his line manager
To perform emergency first care if needed
To bring patients at hospital if emergency or discrimination issue/family issue
Perform other related activities assigned by his line manager
Complete TOR will be submitted upon signing of the contract.
1. Medical Worker (Nursing degree)
2. At least 3 years work experience in Health field or HIV Field.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication with public.
4. Excellent interpersonal skill and ability to work and deal successfully in multi-cultural environment Good level English, Pashto and Dari speaking and writing.
5. Preferably with international donor-funded projects, UN agencies or NGO’s on relevant programs in Afghanistan.
