About Action against Hunger :

Action Against Hunger (AAH) is a Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) that was create in France in 1979. Action Against Hunger has been active in Afghanistan in the medical, nutrition, food security, and water and sanitation fields since 1995.

Job Description:

Mission 1: Ensure management of medical and Non-medical  stocks

Ensure the IN/OUT management of the Nutrition commodities, medical supplies and medicine in Stock and MHT level are in accordance with standards.
 
Conduct regular monitoring and supportive supervision from MHT stock.
Regular follow up of the standard procedures and instructions of Nutrition commodities and medicine management in stock.
Ensure follow-up of stocks and pay particular attention to use-by dates of commodities.
Collect information and draw up a monthly stock report for all Nutrition & medicines stock
Inform Program technical support team when the Nutrition commodities and medicines expire date as less than 6 months.
Ensure the destruction of Nutrition & medicines and respect the rules of destruction.
Keep all documents related to pharmacy stock management up to date;
Check minimum stocks balances when updating stock cards and report anticipated shortages to the pharmacy;
Provide formal and on the jobs training to project staff on use of commodities.  
Manage non-medical stock for project  staff.
Keep tracking of consumptions of all consumable items.
Manage inventory of the stock for all items in accordance to Logistic procedures
Make sure the physical check matches with the Bin Cards, Stock Cards and Stock Report
Identify the most used items and prevent shortage
Keep the stock organized with identified area for each department, transit and preparation area

 

Mission 2: Ensure the stock management of the base

Guarantee that the procedures and instructions of stock management are followed;
Ensure follow-up of stocks and pay particular attention to expiry dates for food and medicine products;
Conduct regular inventory and write an inventory report;
Keep all documents related to stock management up to date;
Check daily that the store is clean and is regularly disinfected and ventilated;
Check the temperature and humidity of the store;
Remove infected products and inform  logistic officer and FFC;
Ensure prevention of animals and insects : ensure treatment as needed since infection may appear;
Organize preparation and loading of products and equipment;
Produce the proper documentation link to deliveries;
Report any problem with the quality (sanitary conditions of products, quantities, etc..)
Make sure the use of Bin Cards, Stocks Cards and Stock Report is in place
Conduct monthly and quarterly inventories of the goods and assets.
Control the animals and insect repellents are properly used
Make sure the stock is organized by project or types of items, palletized and away from the walls (storage SOPs are respected).
Control that all products are well stored for long term storage condition.

 

 

Mission 3: Ensure the quality of the storage condition

Check that the store is clean and is regularly disinfected and ventilated.
Check the temperature and humidity of the store
Check the sanitary conditions of new products (absence of parasites).
Remove infected products and inform the Log Supply & Program team.
Report any problem with the quality when occur in the stock.  
Provide technical support to proejct staff on the quality of storage condition.
Follow up of temperature and humidity is available in the stock
Make sure repellent items are available in the stock
Produce lost report for all broken or damage items
Close control of the quality of the items must be done and validated for each delivery

 

Mission 4: Manage cargos and shipments

Ensure from the deliveries: quantity, quality, documentation
Ensure to complete the various dispatch documents.
Ensure safe preparation and loading of cargo into transportation vehicle.
Follow-up the delivery to AAH other stock or to MHT stock
Anticipate the shipment means and availability to send items to the base and MHT
Make sure all document are dully filled and signed when transmitted to the carrier
Check if all parcels are well made to protect the items during transportation
Inform consignee in advance of the shipment and the size of it

 

Mission 5: Support the Project team on project implementation

Support the Project team to prepare list of medicines with the standard/required specification
Have a direct contact with MHT staff for Nutrition commodities and medicines delivery.
Based on project need conduct required assessment on MHT in terms of storage, medicine and Project commodities.
On request, provide advises to project staff
Provide required information to the project team. 
Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

 

Mission 6: Support the Supply department

Assist the team to provide the list of needed items for project.
Keep awareness and alert system on drugs batch recalls and failures
Support Logistics Department in procurement and supply of drugs and commodities.
On request, can provide any type of logistics support requested by his supervisor
To assess the national market of Nutrition supply, commodities and drugs and maintain the list of validated suppliers and available drugs and supplies.

Job Requirements:

Background/qualifications

Educational / Professional Background :

Graduated degree in Pharmacy from recognized faculty
At least 3 years’ experience in the relevant fields (pharmacy and stock management) with national and international NGOs.

Skills:

Required Competences & Skills:

Previous experiences working in pharmacy and health nutrition activities.  
Good organization, planning and reporting skills are necessary.
Ability to manage working environment according to local culture
Fluent in local languages (Dari & Pashto) and knowledge of English language is a plus.
High flexibility in deployment on the selected area, Must be proactive and show initiatives
Develops and promotes effective collaboration within and across units to achieve shared goals and optimize results.
Computer knowledge mainly word processing and Excel Spreadsheet is required
Continuously seeks to learn, share knowledge and innovate
Familiar with Logistical and cargo management of medicine.
