About Bakhtar Development Network (BDN):

Bakhtar Development Network (BDN) was established in 2001 as a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political organization in Afghanistan. BDN envisages a society where people are motivated to aim for a better future and hence, BDN exists to help communities achieve their development goals. 

Since its inception, BDN has been implementing various health, nutrition, education and community development projects. BDN focuses on three main dimensions while implementing health, nutrition, and other development projects; 1) Evidence based delivery of services; 2) capacity building of service providers and 3) improving staff’s managerial capacity to better plan and manage projects. For more than 18 years, BDN has been able to contribute significantly to improving people’s access to high-quality health care and building a history of successful implementation of health, nutrition, and community development projects across Afghanistan.

BDN currently provides the Basic Package of Health Services in Balkh, Baghlan and Takhar provinces under the World Bank-financed Sehatmandi Project. Through implementing Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness (ERHSP) projects in Balkh, Baghlan and Takhar provinces, BDN also contributes to the fight against COVID-19 Pandemic.

Job Description:

The RMNCH Supervisor is responsible for implementing, monitoring and reporting all RMNCH activities of the project. The RMNCH Supervisor reports to RMNCH Officer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the RMNCH Officer in preparing and implementing the Annual RMNCH Work Plan at the project.
  • Provides the staffs with up-to-date RMNCH related information, guidelines, procedures manual, database and forms.
  • Takes part in planning and implementing RMNCH related trainings.
  • Collect and compiles RMNCH data from provincial offices.
  • Assist the RMNCH Officer with analysis and interpretation of the RMNCH information.
  • Assist the RMNCH Officer in providing timely, specific and relevant Feedbacks to the staff on the data and/or information provided.
  • Plans and conducts supervisory visit to the projects and provides the projects with the supervision reports/feedbacks.
  • Assist the RMNCH Officer in preparing RMNCH reports of the project.
  • Provides up-to-date, relevant and timely information to the program staff for the purpose of planning, implementation and monitoring of the program activities.
  • Assist the RMNCH Officer in establishing and maintaining a good cooperation/coordination mechanism with concerned department(s) at the Provincial Public Health Directorate and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Assigned by the RMNCH Officer, the RMNCH Supervisor represents the organization in RMNCH related forums, workshops, meetings, etc.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduated from recognized university as a Medical Doctor.
  • At least one year experience in maternal and child health.
  • Have knowledge of BPHS is in advantage
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluently speaks reads and writes Dari Pashto and English.
  • Knowledge of computer word, excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interest in the development of health status in the community.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills and code of conduct.
  • Interest and ability to travel extensively in the field.
