About Afghan Technical Consultants :

Afghan Technical Consultants (ATC) is the first United Nations-sponsored humanitarian mine action NGO in the globe which was established by Mr. Kefayatullah Eblagh the current Director General-ATC, in 1989.

ATC started the operation with 35 staff, and, in a period of fewer than two years, built up an organization that employed over 1,000 staff and carried out mine clearance operations in 6 provinces of Afghanistan with the satisfaction and full support of the stakeholders.

With continuous efforts and invitation of the international experts’ attention to the problem of mines in Afghanistan through slide presentations of the field operation in different international conferences since April 1993 in Monstrous, Switzerland, ATC has convinced the experts to initiate protective tools and develop more efficient Mine Action equipment.

So far, ATC has completed the clearance of more than eleven thousand minefields and former battle areas and delivered mine/explosive ordnance risk education to over 700,000 girls, boys, men, and women in 32 provinces of Afghanistan. Now, ATC invites qualified female candidates for the post of “Project Gender Focal Point” with the following criteria: 

Job Description:

ATC is fully committed to gender mainstreaming within its offices, within its

programs and facilitates the same approach for its partners and stakeholders.

Considering the above Strategy, ATC developed its own policies regarding gender issues. This document shows the organization’s commitment to the gender mainstreaming strategy.

Gender focal point in ATC has the role of supporting to implement gender mainstreaming also linked it to the promotion of gender equity within the organization, i.e., the promotion of gender balance, work/life issues, harassment, and a gender-sensitive work environment in ATC. The site office gender focal point will supervise and coordinate all the relevant issues to gender mainstreaming at the site office level in consultation with ATC Gender Focal Point.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Background of site/project office Gender Focal Point:

Under the overall supervision of the ATC Gender Focal Point/Site Officer/project manager, the Site Gender Focal Point will be required to manage the day-to-day running of tasks at the site/project office/.  The specific duties and responsibilities of the Site Office Gender Focal Point will be as follows:

Provide technical support to the project team related to gender issues.
Monitoring and reporting on gender issues to the organization project office.
Participate in gender-related workshops or events at the provincial level.
Support in writing stories related to program and project developments as they relate to gender equality issues.
Conducting gender awareness sessions for site staff and for the female members of the target community.
Communicating the ATC gender policy to the site, teams, and community.
Providing opportunities to female job seekers at the site office level.
Keep updating the gender office documents.
Participate in EORE, case study, victim data collection, non-technical survey, and PDIA with other females/male staff to encourage the community members for gender mainstreaming issues.
Gender mainstreaming is part of all the refresher courses for Deminers.

Monitoring and reporting on gender issues                                   

Monitor and report on the project-related gender issues in the region.
Provide information to be updated on gender issues.

Job Requirements:

The candidates must be graduated from a recognized higher education institution.
language skills:
The candidate should have very good written and verbal language skills in both official languages as well as English.
the candidate shall have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in some or all of the following areas: 
An international agency or a non-governmental organization; 
Experience with the mine action section or mine action NGOs will be preferred.
Excellent computers skills in MS Word, Excel, and Access Database;
