Job Description:

The position provides analytical support to our programs and legal research, in particular for continuity purposes on legislative initiatives. This adviser would also conduct legal research regarding laws, regulations, and practices affecting other INL projects (e.g., education, NGOs, legal service delivery) and conduct routine oversight of our capacity building efforts in the Ministry of Justice, Attorney General’s Office, and Ministry of Women’s Affairs, and oversight of the legal aid offices and legal assistance bureaus around the country funded by INL, analyzing systems processes and case files on site.

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Three years of progressively responsible legal work experience is required, with demonstrable experience of at least two years in legal research, legislative issues, and reporting, both oral and written.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of the process of legislative drafting, legal research and analysis.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor level Academic degree, in Law or Sharia is required.

Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) English and Dari proficiency is required. Must have ability to read complex sources in Dari and Pashto, and to produce correspondence in Dari.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to conduct legislative drafting, legal research and analysis. Skilled in common professional software programs such as Microsoft Office suite.
