About Danish Refugee Council:

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization working in more than 30 countries throughout the world. DRC has been present in Afghanistan since the end of 2010 implementing programming that includes livelihoods, protection, emergency response and preparedness, infrastructure development, and supply chain management and logistical support to UNHCR. DRC is registered with the Government of Afghanistan through the Ministry of Economy and MoRR. DRC AFG has implemented programs funded by DANIDA, EC, ECHOP, BPRM, UNHCR and WFP supporting over 25,000 displaced families per year. 

DRC adopts a regional approach unifying our country programs in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and Tajikistan around the Afghan displacement axis. This decision is built on the premise that a multi-stakeholder regional response to the massive displacement issue is required. The DRC approach is in line with UNHCR’s push for a regionally based robust and ‘Comprehensive Solutions Strategy’ (2012-2014). The four country programs strive, wherever possible, to adopt a regional approach to activities, including cross border livelihood and protection programs and coordinated emergency preparedness and response planning.

Job Description:

ABOUT THE JOB

He/she is responsible for professional, efficient and high-quality implementation of project activities in South Area (Kandahar) including planning, implementation, staff management and logistics management and to maintain close cooperation with targeted communities. He/ she will have management responsibilities for Livelihoods Program Officers.

Responsibilities:

Responsible to complete activities on time, on target, and on budget for all South livelihoods projects.
Responsible to support Livelihoods TC in development of appropriate and feasible implementation plans, and monitoring of these plans on a regular basis
Responsible for ensuring activities are registered with the appropriate Ministry / Government Departments both during implementation and completion phases and that requested Reports are accurate and submitted in a timely fashion.
Responsible to lead logistics processes including on time procurement, quality checks of procured items and organize appropriate distribution in the field.
Responsible for daily supervision and capacity development of Livelihoods Programme Officers and Workers
Responsible for engaging local Trainers, Enumerators in advance of start-up of activities.
Responsible to organize and plan for data collection including beneficiary selection and monthly feedback and monitoring
Carry out regular field visits to organize and monitor the implementation of the activities and to collaborate with colleagues from M&E department and Third Party Monitoring bodies.
Collect information in the field on the general and specific situation in the area
Identify Community Leaders and organize meetings with them in order to clarify needs and problems of the community and to identify solutions
Ensure female representation at the community leadership level
Lead cooperation with community leaders and with the assisted population, as well as with all relevant field stakeholders
Contribute to the needs assessment in the area of operation and to the planning of new activities
Provide financial and program information and draft reports for internal and donor reporting as per PM guidance
Performing any other tasks as instructed by the Area Program Manager and – in his/her absence.

Interested qualified female candidates with minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience will be considered for the next stage of the recruitment process.

Education/qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in social sciences, humanitarian and/or development studies, or relevant
