About Operation Mercy:
Operation Mercy is an international Non-Governmental Organization registered with the Ministry of Economy under Registration Number 190. All Op Mercy Projects are implemented in cooperation and coordination with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, with the United Nations, and with other International NGO’s.
Organizational Vision: To work in partnership with others to restore hope, grow capacity, and promote
community through relief and development initiatives that help transform lives, including our own.
To monitor and evaluate the implementation WaSH program activities, among community members according to project plans.
Key Result Area (KRA) 1: To monitor Op Mercy WaSH program activities x area. The WaSH Monitor will assist the WaSH Manager and Training and Liaison officer:
Advocate, explain and support Op Mercy WaSH project activities and values to the community.
Communicate with community leaders on a regular basis regarding community plan and goals, community program data and feedback from promoters.
Make sure the lessons and other relevant activities are going well in community
Key Result Area (KRA) 2: Facilitate WaSH assessments and lessons. The WaSH Monitor will:
a) Assist the WaSH Facilitator and Team leader to train WaSH promoters according to the community plans in conjunction with the program plan.
b) Observe WaSH lessons and assessments as taught and communicate problems with these to the WaSH manager and Training / Liaison officer.
c) Deliver effective hygiene promotion activities in partner communities.
d) Define and communicate to the Manager when changes are needed to be added in program activities, if required
Key Result Area (KRA) 3: Monitoring and Reporting. Promote and facilitate WaSH lessons. The WaSH Monitor will aassist the WaSH Facilitator and Team leader to:
Observe WaSH lessons and assessments specific to each community’s plan.
Conduct home visits to ensure the infiltration from the WaSH ideas in the community’s and write narrative report about it.
Record pertinent stories, observations and feedback from each community meeting in the narrative reports.
Keep records of collected data and prepare it for better monitoring and reporting issues
Create weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually report, as required
Key Result Area (KRA) 4: General WaSH Program and Op Mercy WaSH Office. The WaSH Monitor will:
Apply the training they receive and serve as role models for good WaSH behavior in the communities.
Submit completed receipts for WaSH purchases or expenses in a timely and accurate manner.
Perform any other duties as directed by the WaSH manager.
Maintain an attitude of learning that continuously seeks to grow in professional skills and language learning and cultural understanding of the target community and co-workers.
Develop a strong relationship with all coworkers and beneficiaries, seeking to be an example in teamwork, self-sacrifice, positive outlook and integrity.
Profile of WaSH Monitor:
Very good inter-personal skills, ability to express his thoughts clearly
Able to teach and able to evaluate training
Friendly, kind and able to communicate with people of all cultures with respect
Fluent speaking, reading, writing ability in Dari
Fluent speaking, reading, writing ability in Pashto
Able to travel outside Kabul province for training events
Strong interest in health and well-being of all members of society
Decent, respectable appearance
Honest and hard-working, even without direct supervision
Good computer and data entry skills
Good speaking, reading, writing and ability in English
Experience in group facilitation
Experience in WaSH or related fields
