About MTN Afghanistan:  MTN Afghanistan is the subsidiary company of MTN Group operating in 22 countries with a subscriber base of over 200 Millions. MTN provides GSM services in Afghanistan. We are looking for qualified and experienced candidates to fill the vacant position(s).

Job Summary:

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

The mission is to provide strategic direction for the marketing division; ensuring brand development and revenue generation for new and existing products

Ensure delivery and operationalization of in country strategy in line with local market environment and Group expectations and guidelines

Duties & Responsibilities:

Key Tasks: 

·     Develop the strategy for the marketing function in the MTNA in line with global best practice in order to ensure that the organization is viable both internally and externally and as a social and financial entity

·     Provide leadership and management with the visibility; control and decision support required to understand and manage marketing; as well as provide the team with the expertise to build the marketing capabilities in order to drive effectiveness and efficiencies within the team

·     Prepare the annual marketing work plan and ensure the effective execution thereof in order to ensure the business objectives are achieved

·     Establish the marketing functions’ alignment with MTN Afghanistan and MTN Group objectives in order to effectively drive the overall business and group objectives

·     Establish and monitor performance benchmarks for the marketing team in order to ensure ongoing effectiveness of the division

·     Prepare; monitor and control the annual departmental budget to ensure expenditure is in line with the business plan

·     Ensure the effective marketing of MTN products and services so as to position the MTN OPCO in a favorable light

·     Compile revenue and subscriber acquisition targets by conducting proper analysis of the market and ensure that plans are in place in order to achieve the revenue and subscriber numbers goals and targets


·     Ensure accurate reporting across regions and inform the CEO of trends and changes that would affect the MTN organization

·     Ensure profitability of the marketing department 

·     Communicate the organizations culture and image to internal and external stakeholders so as to create a common perception of the organizations culture and image in line with MTN brand values

·     Ensure the department contributes to the profitability of MTN Afghanistan and MTN Group through the establishment of appropriate checks and balances in the system and the alignment of all functional areas in the department

·     Develop plans and strategies to enable achievement of cost revenue and brand targets

·     Prepares Divisional budget indicators and preside over the execution of the approved budget and its revision where justified Communicate the organization’s culture and image to internal and external stakeholders

Job Requirement:

Minimum Requirements  


 Bachelor’s degree – Marketing

 Post graduate degree (MBA preferable)



 8 years marketing experience within a multinational environment

 3 years at a strategic management level ( Executive Level) with the telecommunications environment



 Brand management
