Job Summary:

Perform and ensure all necessary servicing, repairing, maintenance works for existing and implementation of new installations of MSF Biomedical Equipment for all MSF and MSF supported structures, while also carrying out and supervising the installation and maintenance of electrical, energy, and cold chain systems in all MSF and MSF supported facilities across the mission according to the preventive maintenance schedule, the project planning, and MSF protocols and guidelines. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Biomedical Technician


–          Carry out preventive and curative maintenance and all necessary repairs, maintenance and new installations according to his/her specialization (i.e. Biomedical Equipment, electronic equipment installations etc.) in coordination with the Biomed Specialist/ Referent

–          Develop and ensure the follow up of the maintenance planning and the weekly cleaning of medical devices, clean filters and change if necessary, the tubing and some basic parts

–          Maintain the equipment files securely and ensure they are up-to-date; identification cards, maintenance forms, intervention requests, repair forms, guarantee certificates, etc.

–          Fill in stock cards of spare parts and support the physical stock inventory on a regular basis

–          Ensure the adequate stocks of consumables and materials for minor repairs and manage those stocks in coordination with his supervisor; ensure the replenishment of the biomed spare parts and consumable stock on a monthly basis

–          Complete the necessary reports before and after any repair or required maintenance

–          Supports the logistics department for any relative work required for his respective technical family

–          Work in collaboration with other specialized technicians and workers, if necessary

–          Give regular feedback to the line manager and report directly any issue or incident


–          Assist with urgent support/ advice and carry out critical rehabilitation tasks and corrective electrical maintenance interventions.

–          Perform annual preventive Electrical maintenance procedures and safety checks across facilities in the project

–          Carry out and update the electrical installations and equipment inventory in MSF and MSF supported facilities

–          Ability to Inspect transformers, RCCB, circuit breakers, surge arrester contactors, Electrical pump ,Boiler and other electrical components

–          Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate of testing devices (Multimeter, Energy logger…)

–          Ability to check and test grounding system

–          Ensure the technical service of all electrical installations and equipment (technical teams, maintenance and reparation procedures, tooling and accessories, workshop, technical stock)

–          Assist in all necessary repairs, maintenance and new installations in his field of expertise for all Energy and Cold chain installations (i.e. electrical installations, Air conditioning units, air coolers, grounding, electrical protection, refrigerators maintenance etc.)

–          Perform any needed tests after any repair/maintenance or new installations in order to ensure the functionality and safety of the installations following MSF Standard 

Job Requirement:



–          High school diploma (12th class) essential

–          Technical diploma in Electrical engineering and Biomedical essential

–          University degree in Electrical engineering and Biomedical desirable


–          Other experience in a similar position essential


–          Dari/Pashtu: oral and written essential

–          English: oral and written essential

Working hours

Full Time / Schedule: 176 hours per month – due to the nature of the position the candidate must be willing and capable to sometimes work outside regular office hours

Salary will be paid according to the MSF salary grid
