About Ministry of Public Health: Founded:   Disability and Rehabilitation is one of the key components of Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). The physical rehabilitation services are providing at districts hospitals, provincial hospitals, regional and national specialized hospitals, beside these interventions 23 specialized physical rehabilitation centres are functional at 17 different provinces and providing prosthetics, orthotics, physiotherapy, mobility aid devices in order to restore the functional abilities of person with disabilities and integrate them into society. Due to the enormous needs for the physical rehabilitation services in the country Technical Orthopaedic Centers has established by MoPH to provide physical rehabilitation services (Prosthetics and Orthotics, artificial limbs, mobility aid devices and physiotherapy services to the physical disable. The said Centres become functional with the technical and financial support of Disability and Physical Rehabilitation project in 1389. Disability and Rehabilitation project is national project funded by National Development Budget (Discretionary fund) of Ministry of Finance. This project is run under the direct management of disability and Rehabilitation Program, Ministry of Public Health. Under this project physical rehabilitation services (Prosthetics, Orthotics, Physiotherapy and Mobility Aid Devices) are providing for person with Physical Disabilities in order to integrate them into society and make them positive contributor to the national development. The Physiotherapists will be responsible for assessment of the patients and provision of physical therapy care. The physiotherapists will report to the Supervisor of concern Orthopaedic Centre/ Project Manager.

Job Summary:

1.     Assess the patient, taking care to write detailed assessment cards with history, problem list, long and short term goals and treatment plan

Duties & Responsibilities:

1.     Assess the patient, taking care to write detailed assessment cards with history, problem list, long and short term goals and treatment plan

2.     Undertake suitable treatments and follow up as appropriate; treatment may include patient education, use of exercises, mobilization and other physical modalities such as electrotherapy.

3.     Undertake in-patient treatment and gait training of patent received orthopedic appliances  

4.     Refer patients to other specialties such as orthopedic services as appropriate

5.     Prescribe and measure suitable walking aids and wheelchairs as appropriate

6.     Use all physiotherapy equipment, supplies and machinery properly and safely, take care of them and keep them clean

7.     Be punctual and professional in working practice and follow the requirements of the administration on time-keeping, report writing and preparation of any necessary documents

8.     Follow up patients in home based visits or outreach programmes as appropriate

9.     Cooperate with relevant medical and health personnel in the best interest of the patient

10.  Provide training to families trainer, and community health workers on basic exercises as appropriate

11.  Supervise PTAs in the treatment and follow-up of patients

12.  prepare monthly statistical reports

13.  any other duties commensurate with level as instructed by line manager

Job Requirement:

1.     Graduate from recognized physiotherapy Institute confirmed by MoPH.

2.     Fluent in writing and communication in both national language and some knowledge of English as well

3.     Good communication skill with patient to motivate them for continuation of their treatment
